About Caroline
Caroline Frye is a photographer born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Inspired by humanity and the complexity of life around us, she brings to her work a vulnerable perspective on the human experience through everyday life, movement, and fashion. Caroline enjoys portraying emotion through the use of color and texture while also incorporating abstract elements to make space for personal interpretation. With the lifelong love of storytelling and genuine connection, she has developed her craft beyond the fundamentals primarily through self-learning and exploration.
Caroline’s work has been published in Richmond Magazine, People, Laps of Luxe, Fodor’s Travel and her video work has been included in the Richmond Dance Festival. She has also photographed shows at New York Fashion Week and will be a featured artist at the upcoming SPITTING IMAGE performance with Starr Foster Dance.
She currently works as a multimedia specialist and accepts freelance work for product photography, editorials, portraits, and events. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and lounging with her cats. She graduated in 2020 from Virginia Commonwealth University.
The Fear
THIS COLLECTION REPRESENTS THE MENTAL AND SOCIETAL FEARS THAT WOMEN FACE DUE TO JUDGEMENT, SEXUALIZATION, AND OPPRESSIVE SOCIETAL EXPECTATIONS. THESE FEARS ARE DEEPLY ROOTED IN POLITICS, RELIGION, MEDIA, AND INTERNALIZED MISOGYNY, SHAPING THE WAY WOMEN NAVIGATE THE WORLD.
I ENCOURAGE VIEWERS TO ENGAGE WITH EACH IMAGE INTROSPECTIVELY, QUESTIONING THEIR OWN PERCEPTIONS AND THE STRUCTURES THAT PERPETUATE THESE FEARS.
